Child safety on Sidez
Sidez is for people aged 16 and over. Sexual abuse and exploitation of children is not allowed anywhere on Sidez: not in polls, photos, comments, profiles or messages. This page says what we don't allow, how to report it, and what we do about it.
What isn't allowed
These are never allowed on Sidez, whoever does them and whatever the reason:
- Sexual or sexualised pictures, videos or words involving anyone under 18.
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM): posting it, sharing it, asking for it, trading it, or linking to it.
- Grooming: contacting a young person to win their trust for sexual purposes, asking them for sexual pictures or messages, or asking them to move to another app to do it.
- Sextortion: threatening or blackmailing anyone with real or claimed intimate pictures.
- Helping anyone do any of the above.
This page works together with our Community rules, which apply to everything on the app.
Who can use Sidez
Sidez is for people 16 and over. We ask for a date of birth when you create an account, and we don't let anyone under 16 sign up. The date is what you tell us. We can't check it, so we don't treat it as protection on its own.
Direct messages: if either of two people is under 18, they can message each other only if they follow each other.
How to report something
Reports are private. The person you report is never told it was you.
- A poll or a profile: tap ⋯, choose the Report option, pick a reason and send it. For anything involving a child, pick “Something else” and write “child safety” in Details.
- A chat message: tap the message, choose Report, pick “Something else” and write “child safety” in Details.
- A comment: tap Report under it. A comment report has no Details box, so please also email us (below) and tell us the username.
- Without an account, or if you'd rather email: write to benli.kagan@gmail.com with “child safety” in the subject. Tell us where you saw it: the username, or the link to the poll.
Please don't send us the picture or video itself. A link or a username is enough.
Reporting inside the app needs an account. Emailing us doesn't.
If a child is in danger right now, call your local emergency number first.
What we do
- We look through new reports ourselves every day. Nothing alerts us when a report arrives, so a report can wait until the next time we look. Anything involving a child is looked at first.
- We remove what breaks these rules and suspend the account that posted it. Three separate reports hide a poll automatically until we've looked at it.
- When we find child sexual abuse material on the app, we remove it and report it to the authorities, including the US National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). We help law enforcement when they ask, as the law requires.
- We keep a record of reports and of what we did about them.
- We follow the child safety laws that apply to us.
- We don't scan photos or text automatically. We rely on reports and on our own review, which is why your report matters.
You can protect yourself too. Block anyone from their profile or a chat: they aren't told, and they can no longer message you. You can mute someone, and delete your own account at any time in Settings.
Who to contact
Sidez's child safety contact is the Sidez safety team: benli.kagan@gmail.com. Google Play, the authorities and anyone with a concern can write to it.
