The short version
Sidez is for arguing about pineapple on pizza, not about whether someone deserves to exist. Ask real questions, answer honestly, and leave people better off than you found them.
Don't post
- Attacks on people for who they are — race, religion, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexuality, disability, or age. A poll is not a poll if one of its answers is an insult.
- Harassment. Naming someone to pile on them, posting about a private person, or following someone around the app.
- Threats or encouragement of violence, against anyone, including yourself.
- Sexual content, and anything sexualising a minor — which we report rather than merely remove.
- Other people's private information: addresses, phone numbers, workplaces, or photos of someone who didn't agree to be posted.
- Spam: the same poll over and over, link-dumping, or an account that exists to advertise.
- Photos that aren't yours to post. Post your own, or something nobody owns.
- Impersonation of a real person or organisation.
Two answers, asked honestly
A poll has exactly two sides and every Sidez poll is answered in a second, so write a question somebody could answer without reading it twice. Loaded questions where one answer is obviously the only decent one aren't interesting, and they don't travel.
What happens when something crosses the line
- Anyone can report a poll, a comment, a message or a person — the “⋯” on a card, on a profile, or on a chat. Reporting is private; the person reported is never told who did it.
- Three separate reports hide a poll automatically, before either of us has read it, until it's reviewed.
- We remove what breaks these rules, and suspend accounts that keep doing it. A suspended account can still read and can still delete itself, but can't post, comment or message.
- Serious cases are removed outright and reported to the authorities where the law requires it.
Blocking and muting are yours
You don't have to report someone to be rid of them. Block takes them out of your feed, your search and your chats, both ways, and they're never told. Mute is the quieter version: they disappear from your feed and their chat stops pinging you, and nothing about their app changes. Both are in the “⋯” menu and in Settings.
If we get it wrong
We're two people, not a moderation department, and we will sometimes take down something we shouldn't have. Email benli.kagan@gmail.com and say what happened. We'll look again and put it back if we were wrong.
